Farmerama returns with our 90th regular episode. We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years.
We begin with the Regen Food Systems Prize, a new £20k award for businesses regenerating local economies, culture and landscapes. India Hamilton, founder of Hypha and co-founder of SCOOP food co-op in Jersey, tells us how the prize came about, and Josiah Meldrum of Hodmedod shares what the judges are looking for. We also hear from Maria Benjamin in the Lake District, who has built a wool business rooted in her family farm and co-runs the Wool Library, experimenting with rare breed wool and reshaping the narrative of British wool.
Next, we speak to dairy farmer Chris Jones in Cornwall about his work with the Right to Roam campaign and the positives he sees for farmers in opening up access to the countryside. And we end with florist Cissy Bullock, founder of the School of Sustainable Floristry, who explains how farmers and florists are working together through Flowers from the Farm to build an environmentally and economically sustainable British flower industry.
